Sounds from beyond the Shed 219 “Nothing to see here”

I said in last week’s column that I was attending the AUK Writers weekend in Buxton this last weekend. I also said that what happens in Buxton generally stays in Buxton. And therefore, I must report that this column is going to be mercifully short this week. What I can say is that those who spent the night in the cells have since been released, and I shall be starting a petition in these very pages to secure the release of him who shall from this moment be known only as the Kenilworth One. If I have the energy, which I frankly doubt.

Before heading North for the… ahem… meeting, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Sam Beam of Iron and Wine for the Podcast, and I must say what a lovely fella. The new album is just wonderful and has been taking the front seat in most of the recent listening. It’s called “Hen’s Teeth” and comes out on 27th February, and I commend it to you all.

Please excuse me now as I have some aspirin to take, and whilst I’m closing my eyes, I shall be listening to Iron and Wine and Danny George Wilson. The radio show is full of loveliness, and the classic album is Cracker‘s “Kerosene Hat”. As ever…
