The Northern Belle return with a new mini-album ‘The Women in Me‘ as a follow up last year’s ‘We Wither, We Bloom’. It sees the Nordicana band set out on an epic voyage of collaboration, bringing in…well, just about everyone you’re likely to name on the Nordicana scene. On the five newly written songs and two covers that make up the album you’ll also hear Darling West, Ida Jenshus, Louien, Malin Pettersen and Signe Marie Rustad. On the original ‘Only Stupid Kids Get Bored,‘ the hip Norwegian instrumental trio Orions Belte adds new layers to the Northern Belle’s sound. While on first single ‘No Rush‘ Siv Jakobsen and Louien contribute ethereal beauty. The collection also includes The Northern Belle’s take on the John Prine classic ‘Summer’s End‘.
‘Kaleidoscope Dream‘ pays a pretty big homage to one of the Northern Belle’s biggest influences, with Stine Andreassen singing about wanting to “hang with Fleetwood Mac… then I’d be cool.” And there’s definitely more than a little classic phase 2 Fleetwood Mac to the song – no Peter Green, much Stevie Nicks. Enjoy!
