After more than a decade as one half of the Canadian folk duo Kacy & Clayton, Saskatchewan songwriter Kacy Lee Anderson steps out on her own with the announcement of her debut solo album, Hello, I’m Irrelevant, which is set to release on 23rd October 2026 via Earth Libraries. Known for her songwriting and distinctive voice, Anderson has spent years playing and singing alongside her cousin Clayton Linthicum, releasing a string of well-received albums and collaborating with Jeff Tweedy, Marlon Williams and Deep Dark Woods amongst others. However, Hello, I’m Irrelevant marks a different chapter.
Written without expectations and recorded quickly in the depths of a Canadian winter, the album became an exercise in trusting instinct over perfection and joy over obligation. “I didn’t tell any single person I was making it,” Anderson says. “That made it feel like I could do whatever I wanted. I wasn’t thinking about how it would be received—or even if I’d put it out. Having that mindset was pretty nice.”
Recorded over just a few days at Studio Cimetière—a 169-year-old church in Quyon, Quebec—with producer Michael John Dubue and Anderson’s partner Micah Erenberg, the album was largely tracked live before the trio added overdubs, including an Optigan. The freezing temperatures outside kept distractions to a minimum.

Anderson has shared the album’s lead single, Giving In, which is Anderson’s introduction to the spirit of her debut album. Blending folk, country, and ’60s pop influences, the track finds Anderson embracing vulnerability as a source of strength.
