While the late great Robert Fisher was around he and his revolving collective Willard Grant Conspiracy never got the wider recognition they deserved for their ever-inspiring, often dark americana, that always at its centre had Fisher’s excellent melodic sense, always literate lyrics and his incredible voice. This is evident in this clip of WGC’s ‘The Trials of Harrison Hayes’ originally appearing on their ‘Regard The End’ album.
“Don’t have the patience / For all these apologies / Don’t have the time / To waste on this effort” sings Fisher here, alone with his acoustic guitar making his songwriting, lyrics, and vocals shine, as they always did. One of those many americana artists that are sorely missed.
