Kentucky “Runway” – like for ‘planes

Who is Kentucky?  Perhaps slightly surprisingly Jordan Holman, the man behind the moniker, is a Canadian who was originally from Edmonton but is now based in Almonte, Ontario.  He was raised with music woven deep into the fabric of his childhood, and by his teenage years, he’d traded the violin for a guitar, staying up late to dissect records as if they contained some ancient magic. He once travelled across Canada, the U.S., and even the U.K., performing in DIY bands, savouring a deal with Universal Music Canada, and glimpsing the big stages he’d always imagined.  That all came to an end in 2020 when his heart stopped.

His new persona emerged in 2023, and Kentucky is in the process of rebuilding a musical path – he’s back playing dozens of gigs in a year but now it’s just a man, his guitar, and an audience.  ‘Runway‘ is taken from the debut Kentucky album  ‘Second Chance Music.’

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
