The Brothers Comatose have resurrected a song they wrote after friends lost their home in a big fire in the Santa Cruz mountains. This has become pointedly topical again with the recent fires in Los Angeles, and they decided that they could record this track with the help of singer/songwriter Lindsay Lou, and donate all the funds from their Bandcamp sales to musicians in need that were adversely affected by the recent L.A. wildfires.
Band member Ben Morrison shares a bit more info on the song and the cause, “Our hearts are broken by the destruction these fires are causing in our California communities. We first met Lindsay Lou many years ago when we opened for her at a pizza restaurant in Knoxville, TN. Over the years we’ve crossed paths all over the US, getting to collaborate at festivals and in videos. She’s one of our favourite singers and when the time came to find a duet partner for ‘Home Again,’ Lindsay came to mind right away. We hope “Home Again” can help in some way. The song will be officially released on streaming services next month, but is now available for streaming and download on our Bandcamp site. We will be donating 100% of the proceeds from Bandcamp sales and downloads to Musicares – an organization that helps musicians in need, who are now focusing their efforts on those affected by these L.A. fires.”
So, take a listen – it may be the finest charitable song you’ll ever hear – and if you are moved to help Musicare out then so much the better. And even if not, it’s at least a reminder that there are still some good people in the USA.
