Beans On Toast “Pelican Crossing” – where’s the button now?

Beans On Toast has a new album coming out on December 1st called “Kill Them With Kindness“, and the lead song from it is this examination of the complications of modern life. Everything changes, there are no certainties except, maybe, death – and he even has some doubts about that. It’s recognisably a Beans On Toast cut but does come from a new collaboration with Scottish native Memphis Gerland, bringing outstanding guitar licks, riffs and at times even a country twang to proceedings, while Manchester’s own Abbi Phillips keeps a rock-solid beat and Brighton’s Bassie Gracie locks it all in.

As you’d expect, there’s also a political slant to the song as Beans focuses in on regulations, data collection and a criminally dangerous revamp of the Pelican Crossing, which seems to swap safety for money in someone’s pocket. Ain’t it always the way?

Beans On Toast is on tour, pretty much continually from early November – you can find all the many dates here.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
