The Twang Factor 4 Presents: Maggie May Treanor

The next entrant in Twang Factor 4 is Maggie May Treanor, a singer-songwriter with roots in the rolling hills of Yorkshire, Ireland and Spain.

This emerging artist brings an authentic approach to UK Americana. Raised on a working horse farm, she offers a truly authentic sound that weaves a line between the classic country traditions of Emmy Lou Harris and the emotive storytelling of Jason Isbell. Steeped in the musical heritage of Irish folk and American Roots, her songwriting draws from a deep well of rural experience – as comfortable on horseback as she is on stage. Her English, Irish and Spanish roots infuse each song with a unique perspective, blending American musical traditions with the grit and authenticity of a classic folk storyteller.

She recorded a special, exclusive version of ‘This Time Emily’ as her submission for The Twang Factor. “I recorded it at Homefire Studio in Knaresborough, and it features the exceptional Rich Jevons on guitar. It’s in a different key to the original recorded version. The song is a feel-good americana track I wrote after a wild night in Mendocino, California, where I met a young runaway girl, part of an American underclass called the Rainbow Children, who live radically, existing far below the radar of conventional America. The song captures her courage and restless energy, and the stories we carry with us from chance encounters that stay with us long after the moment passes.”

You can follow her on Facebook and listen to more of her music on Soundcloud.
