Peter Bruntnell heads out on the road again – solo, trio and full band!

AUK favourite and regular poll winner Peter Bruntnell has announced a series of UK dates to see in the Spring Equinox. Some dates will be full band, some a trio, and some solo. The full band will feature Bruntnell regulars Mick Clews (drums), Dave Little (electric guitar), and Peter Noone (bass), and the sets promise to be a mixture of the old and the very new as Pete road tests a new song or two.  There will be various local supports, and tickets are available here.

Pete has been riding high since the success of his last album, Houdini and The Sucker Punch scooped the AUK album of the year 2024 (see the review here) despite Pete describing it thus “This one is not very Americana, to be accurate. It’s more sort of poppy stuff. For instance, I’m a huge Smiths fan. I was trying to make some of the chord progressions a little bit more like theirs rather than Neil Young-like. Although Neil Young is a massive influence, so he’ll always creep in there somewhere. But so is Nick Drake. So, I’m trying to keep it a bit more English, just where I’m from, and I like a lot of English music as well as the American.” Full interview here

Your correspondent must confess an interest here as he is the one promoting the Bedford gig and promises a fantastic evening for all, plus the chance to meet the hapless scribe – what an opportunity! Any AUK subscribers can, on providing suitable evidence, purchase tickets on the door for 25% off the £20 asking price.

Riding the one eyed horse into dead town the scales fell from his eyes. Music was the only true god at once profane and divine The dust blew through his mind as he considered the offering... And then he scored it out of ten and waited for the world to wake up
