Jeffrey Silverstein has announced Doggone, his new album, is set for release on 23rd October via UK label Full Time Hobby. Meeting at the intersection of the loner-folk, cosmic country, and kraut-laden choogle, Silverstein is a musician fully rooted in the creative community around him and firmly held by the life he’s built over the last decade. Where his past several releases saw the New Jersey native settling into life in the Pacific Northwest, observing, appreciating, getting the lay of the land, and finding his footing in the alt-americana sphere into which he unexpectedly fell, this album may find him… at peace.

He called upon a faithful group of Portland-based collaborators like producer-composer Ryan Oxford (Y La Bamba, Rose City Band), bassist Alex Chapman, and drummer Dana Buoy (Akron/Family). Together they gathered at the Center for Sound, Light and Color Therapy to record the album, which was then mastered by Amy Dragon (Big Thief, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Moon Duo).

Freak folk hero Devendra Banhart was offered guest vocals on the album’s lead single, Out of Tune, which is out now. Built around a mellow country groove and dreamy, cosmic pedal steel, it’s a sweet and chilled-out indie love song about being in sync with your person, moving through the universe as one while still upholding your individuality.

“This is a love song“, Jeffrey says. “It centers around the concept of being fully in sync with your person, moving through the universe as one while still upholding your individuality. There’s also a nod to one of my favorite tunes of all time, ‘Rollin’ with the Flow’ by Charlie Rich.

Silverstein is attracting big league attention with this release, such as Eric D Johnson (Fruit Bats), who said the following: “Jeffrey’s latest album exists in a world between worlds. One is a nether region of cinematic eyelid movies, definitely set somewhere out west in the nighttime. The other is earthbound and rooted and in daylight and swings with the best of my guys – JJ and Jerry and Dr John and all the best ones. This is a world I wanna live in… this record is right in my wheelhouse.”

Having played shows throughout the US with such names as Steve Gunn, William Tyler, Rose City Band, Widowspeak, and more, Silverstein is now turning his attention back across the Atlantic for co-headline shows with Bobby Lee in the UK and Sweden this summer. The album can be preordered here.
