Here is the moody new video from Manchester singer-songwriter Izzie Walsh. Full of unresolved musical and lyrical tension, I Need You More is an emotive, atmospheric song, featuring a powerful performance from Walsh. Opening with delicate finger-picked guitar, the song grows steadily, its intensity building as Walsh delivers lines that are both direct and resigned: “I need you more than the flowers // More than roses // More than the hours…Drinking late again // This behaviour is a problem…I need you more…More than apologies.” This is a narrative of a relationship unravelling over many years, but the sense of loss expressed is held within a beautifully executed vocal melody. As the feelings rise, the musical layers and pace increase too in a song that is well-crafted and well-controlled.
I Need You More is taken from Walsh’s forthcoming debut album. Where Do We Go From Here? is due for release on 3rd September 2026. Known for her live performances and distinctive vocals, Walsh draws on traditional and contemporary folk and americana influences to craft songs that feel authentic and honest, exploring themes of real lives, loss and resilience. Just as I Need You More references the future, the whole album, and, of course, its title too, is concerned about uncertainty and perspective, where we have come from and where we are going. Although written while travelling, this is about more than Walsh’s literal journey; it is inspired by moments of change and transition, the stories of people who come and go and the unclear path that lies ahead.
