It’s a brave person who puts on a festival this year, but blessed are the ones for whom the festival falls at the end of the season, and with that in mind, the organisers of Maverick have announced that it will be going ahead this year from 3rd-5th September at its usual location in Suffolk.
Amongst names announced today are Rich Hall, back to shine a light into the gloomy recesses of the American psyche with inimitable musical accompaniment, homegrown hang-dog Hank Wangford who will celebrate his forty-plus years as the godfather of UK alt. country, and Blackeyed Dogs led by Brit award-winning multi-instrumentalist and producer Ethan Johns who are playing a second set, an extended show of Grateful Dead songs as Dogs Play Dead.
Three female artists will also playing the weekend with their own take on Americana: Californian outlaw country queen Sara Petite and her band, New Orleans singer-songwriter Shawn Williams plus New York-based southerner Mary Elaine Jenkins.
