Folk juggernaut Bellowhead who called it a day four years ago to a general gnashing of teeth and pitiful wailing have found new success this month as they top the Official Charts Company’s Folk Chart. The band did an Avengers during the pandemic and reassembled for a streamed gig celebrating the 10th anniversary of ‘Hedonism‘, their third album. The gig sold more than 10,000 tickets and, spotting that it might be popular Bellowhead have now released the album of the gig – and they were right folk-pop pickers, as it went straight to the coveted Numero Uno spot.
There are plenty of other well-performing artists with something of an Americana interest – Katherin Priddy is in at Number 2 with ‘The Eternal Rocks Below‘, This is the Kit are at Number 7 with ‘Off Off On‘, and slightly further down the chart you can find Peter Bruntnell, Lady Nade (who will be touring with Spiers & Boden later in the year), Chloe Foy and M.G. Boulter. The full chart can be found here.
