Dr John “Such A Night” – solo and live

Hey, we do not need to introduce Dr John to you.  And if that’s not the case, if you’re thinking “Dr Who?” all we can say is that you are in for a treat with this newly released song from the good Doctor.  It’s taken from the newly released ‘Solo Piano Live In New Orleans 1984,‘ a features a previously unreleased concert recording available now at all DSPs and on 180-gram custom-coloured vinyl at all physical retailers.

It was recorded April 27th, 1984, aboard the historic SS President (Riverboat) – could three be anywhere more appropriate? – with Dr. John headlining alongside fellow Big Easy luminaries Fats Domino and The Neville Brothers.  It’s raw, it’s a bit crackly, but it sure sounds fine, true enough, and that is so.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
