Holy Moly and the Crackers have announced their latest album ‘Solid Gold’ will be released on March 17th on Pink Lane Records. This, the Newcastle band’s fourth album, comes after ‘Take a Bite’ was released in 2019. They recorded the album after a period in Austin, Texas, in their usual Blank Studios in Newcastle and added Dutch producer Wessel Olthetento to the mix. ‘Solid Gold’ includes new singles ‘Skyline Drive’ and ‘Hot Red’. They will also be doing a short tour this Spring, with a longer one to follow in the Autumn.
Says band co-leader Conrad Bird: “Skyline Drive is a house in the mountains, overlooking the Colorado River deep in the heart of Texas. Tommy (drums), Ruth (vocals) and I were there, staying up late drinking local rye whiskey and looking over the water… When we were kids, listening to Hank Williams and Sister Rosetta and Mississippi John Hurt and Dylan and Cash for the first time, this was the stuff dreams are made of. A few drinks in and the song came tumbling out.”
The album will be available on coloured vinyl, CD, and your favourite streaming platform. You can pre-order the album from the artist’s website and purchase tickets to the show here.
