Something for the weekend: Tom Petty “Crawling Back to You”

That’s it from us for another week dear reader. We wanted to give a special shout out to twice winner of Americana radio show of the year in previous AUK readers polls, Mike Ritchie who last week presented his 500th show on Celtic Music Radio – congratulations Mike, here’s to the next 500! Head over here to listen.

We leave you this week with a track from Tom Petty’s 1994 “Wildflowers” album, the first released by Petty after signing a contract with Warner Bros. and the first of three albums produced with Rick Rubin. In 2020, it was ranked at number 214 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”! For me, ‘Hard to Find a Friend’ and ‘Crawling Back to You’ are the standout tracks, the latter having swirled round my head for the past week – maybe as my cat Engels returned home after 4 weeks because whoever has been feeding him has clearly gone on holiday or moved. No apology, remorse, nothing – that’s cats for you.

Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting the fascists. Have a good one.
