Track Premiere: Gregg Hill “New Orleans Again”

Gregg Hill hails from Chicago but not exclusively – he has also called New Jersey, Dallas, D.C., NY home, and currently it is New Orleans. He travels extensively. Along with being a singer/songwriter, his sculptures are shown in respected galleries around the USA. Hill’s new record is titled ‘Bayou St. John,’ it features Roland Guerin and Doug Belote alongside Gregg Hill and will be released on September 15, 2023.

His music has a country-folk feel to it that is reminiscent of some of the music of the early 1970s, and Hill’s subjects are, more often than not, drawn from his own life.  He told Americana UK that for him: “‘New Orleans Again’ is a classic country song.  It’s the story of a person that carries some responsibility in their everyday life, but finds freedom in the artistic and open streets of New Orleans.  They go as often as they can. They dream of living there…but is it just a dream?”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
