The new video from Kirsten Adamson features drone footage of beautiful landscapes, truck stops and long journeys, framing the the love story told through ‘Stars on the South Coast’. Directed and edited by Ruth Barrie, the visual is engaging and brilliantly shot. The daughter of Big Country’s Stuart Adamson, Kirsten possesses a perfect voice for country songs; she delivers a heartfelt performance, displaying great control and a gorgeous vibrato. Popular troubadour Dean Owens, much-loved at AUK, produced the song and there’s a real richness and warmth to the layers of guitar, mandolin and ukulele.
Lyrically, a romantic tale unfolds as the song progresses and it’s full of narrative detail. Adamson explains: “I was playing about with different rhythms on my acoustic guitar and the verse came to me first. It was whimsical and fun but I wanted the track to have depth and what started out autobiographical, grew into a fictitious love story.”
This story of a young couple and their loving relationship is the first single from the Scottish singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album ‘Landing Place’, which is due for release on 3rd February 2023. It will feature collaborations with Owens, Jason McNiff, Dave Burn and Jon Mackenzie and promises to be a compelling collection of melodic tales.
