Welcome to another edition of The Twang Factor 3. This week we feature the beautiful laid-back sound of Chris Reddy.
Chris Reddy lives in Shaftsbury, Dorset and is currently working on his ambition of making a “proper album”. He began playing music with a couple of school buddies in the late 1970s and spent the early 80s writing and gigging around London in an indie band which attracted some interest from Virgin Records, but by then Chris’s tastes had changed as he embraced “folk, finger-picking, bluegrass, pre-war blues, cajun, jazz, gospel, etc.” The band split in 1988 and since then Chris has continued to write and record over 300 songs and instrumentals whilst “getting on with life”.
Having played and written on acoustic guitar, resonator and harmonica for years, a couple of years back Chris decided to switch to a telecaster and lap steel. From here the idea for an album emerged which Chris hopes “will reflect some the things I’ve learned and picked up over the last 45 years” The album, titled ‘STEEL’, should be out later this year and if this performance is anything to go by, it will be well worth looking out for.
