The Bacon Brothers are, of course, Michael and Kevin Bacon – the one an A-list Hollywood actor and the other an Emmy-winning composer. Their musical collaboration as The Bacon Brothers is not a new thing though – thirty years of paying their dues and today’s song is the title track of their twelfth release. They call their sound forosoco because it draws on folk, rock, soul, and country music. Hey, we like an acronym as much as anyone. It’s also the name of the Brothers’ record label – and the new album will be released on it (and Forty Below Records) on April 19th. It’ll be available in the UK via Proper Records.
This song was inspired by Gruene Hall, the historic 145-year-old dancehall in New Braunfels, Texas, (where Willie Nelson played some of his most memorable shows), and Michael Bacon explains that “I wanted to write a Faustian story set in one of my favourite states ever. It’s sort of like Texas’ own version of Charlie Daniels ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
