‘I Was A Gun‘ is the second single from The Roseline’s upcoming album ‘Keystone of the Heart‘, which will mark the band’s eighth release. It’s a song that sombrely marks the difference between a couple, the opposites that made their being together possible : “I’m a joke, a gas, with no slant rhyme or reason /
Can’t even hold a job down for more than a season / I was a gun / You were a flower.” It’s narrator has an unblinkered harshness for themselves, and a gratefulness for someone who could see past all their failings: “I was plum / Unpleasant and sour / I wasn’t ripe but your patience was power / You let me sweeten up and then you devoured / You were the only one that saw any good.”
The Roseline are based in Kansas, and were formed by their principal songwriter, Colin Halliburton, originally as an acoustic folk trio. They’ve since evolved into the five-piece heartland rock band that can be heard on this song.
