Goodnight Texas were founded by Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf, and they took their band name from a hamlet lying at the exact midpoint between their respective homes in San Francisco and Chapel Hill. Their sound is a rocking Americana with a depth of roots underneath and underlaying it – and that’s a description that perfectly fits today’s song ‘The Lightning And The Old Man Todd‘ which tells a tale of an outcast from society who longs for his long dead wife – taken from him by a lightning strike.
Goodnight Texas have been running up the tour miles tally with dates shared with the likes of Larkin Poe, Shakey Graves, Trampled by Turtles, The Brothers Comatose, and Donavon Frankenreiter.
‘The Lightning And The Old Man Todd‘ comes from Goodnight Texas’ new album ‘Signals‘ which is out on July 19th. It has a wide range of guests on it including Kirk Hammett of Metallica , who admired the band’s version of ‘Of Wolf and Man‘ on the 2022 covers album ‘The Metallica Blacklist‘.
