Hudson Mueller “Welcome To Earth” – enjoy yourself whilst you’re here

The title track of Hudson Mueller’s new album references Kurt Vonnegut’s wisdom for newcomers to our planet – and takes the form of a song from a father to his literally new child, imparting the knowledge straight off that this is a child born already with some advantages.

The album came together in quite a Vonnegutian way as well, it began during the pandemic when Mike Bloom – the album’s producer – called Mueller after having a dream they were making a record together. “That’s funny,” Mueller replied, “I just finished recording demos for a new record. I’ll send them your way.” This serendipitous moment launched a creative partnership that shaped the album’s distinctive sound.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
