What did Malin Pettersen do before she found fame under her own name? She fronted Lucky Lips, from 2010, and they are putting out their first release since 2016 – yes the old band is back together! The current line-up consists of Malin Pettersen, Erlend Skullestad Hølland, Even Reinsfelt Krogh, Pål Emil Storm-Bergand, Stian Jørgen Sveen (SJ Sveen). And what a sound they make – we’re in Jayhawks territory on ‘Salt Sails The Sea‘ but other songs on ‘Big City Jungle‘ tap the other influences on Lucky Lips, bluegrass old time, honkytonk, and outlaw country as well as those big Americana strutting sounds.
