Arren “Broken” – talking might help

Today is definitely an eyebrow raising day as we introduce the new song from ARREN.  ARREN is a Dublin-based, Clare/Limerick-born artist who aims to bring the anthemic scale of iconic ’90s and 2000s pop-rock into the intimacy of singer-songwriter and who says that he draws inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Oasis, Mumford & Sons, Hudson Taylor, and U2.  We can, even at this remove, hear the sharp intake of breathe from some quarters.  Don’t worry – we wouldn’t sell you a bad one.  It’s, oh let’s say folk-rock for want of a better term with a big old orchestral vibe injected into it in order to add a cinematic feel to a contemplation of internal struggles.

Commenting on the new single, ARREN has said, “During the pandemic, my mental health suffered greatly—like so many others. Broken is one of the songs that helped save me. To be honest, if I hadn’t been able to channel my thoughts into my music, I don’t know if I’d be here today. I can’t wait to share ‘Broken’ with everyone, and if it helps even one person feel less alone in their struggles, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do with this song.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
