Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader and we leave you with a brand new song from Broolyn-based Hudson Freeman. Born to Evangelical missionaries, Freeman started writing songs upon a radical break at the age of 13 when his family suddenly moved from the suburbs of Dallas to The Kingdom of Eswatini. Inspired by Midwest folkheads like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver, the 26-year-old continues to record and perform songs equal-parts resonant, reflective, and poignant, and this tune, recorded in a field in southern Indiana by Freeman and Sean Saville has a warm and familiar set of chords it feels like coming home to. “if you know me like you say you do u’d be humming along, u’d be singing the tunes” – we don’t but we are Hudson!
Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine and keep fighting the fascists. See you next week.
