Here’s the latest single from Leah Blevins. ‘Be Careful Throwing Stones’ features shimmering instrumental layers, over which Blevins’ voice is clear and pure as she delivers words about love unravelling: “When you got a glass heart // And you bruise so easily // And you’re looking for a new start // Baby save the apology.” Written with Dan Auerbach and Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges), the song blends a dreamy, retro feel with contemporary songwriting and a country-rock groove as the song builds into the chorus. Artfully shot in an empty church and beautiful lakeside location, the video, directed by Ford Fairchild, leans into the retro feel and reinforces the theme with its own narrative.
Blevins says of the song’s theme: “The song, ‘Be Careful Throwing Stones’, for me, represents the dynamic of a relationship when there is more ego than love and admission. Habitual and predictable behavior, rather than accountability. It’s a nod to the saying, ‘Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.’ This song is about protecting the softest parts of yourself. Dan, Daniel and I were writing from that place where hope meets caution. It’s a reminder to move gently through love — with others and with yourself.“
The single is taken from the Dan Auerbach-produced album “All Dressed Up”, which is due for release on 20th March 2026. Blevins, who was raised on the Kentucky country of Loretta Lynn, says, “There are all kinds of emotions in this world. The best songs hold a few of them at once. Dan gets that. He knows how to let a feeling stretch out and take up space.” This song is a taste of what’s to come from the album – nostalgic sounds fuelled by heartache, hope and quiet strength. Enjoy.
