What an idle fellow this Tracks Editor is – here’s him doing another “needs no introduction” song selection – the latest single from The Last Season of America, a new album of stirring protest songs and heartfelt reflections on the state of his home country due September 18th on Seasick Steve’s new label Eastcote Recordings. Within the drivin’ blues rhythms of Bootstraps is an assessment of the narrowing of opportunities in the usa – the rich, you may have heard, are doing fine and those less well rewarded need to worry about getting old with no safety net.
Of course this is also another opportunity to feature one of the mere hundreds of shots of Steve we captured at Folk By The Oak, a set which included the majority of the songs on the new albums and which leave the listener in no doubts about how Steve feels about his homeland: “mostly sad, so much homelessness and division.”
