Oxygenpony “Twenty One” – Listen

It’s been a long time – like a decade – since we last heard from Paul Megna who’s previous band, Oxygen Ponies, produced a trio of albums featuring memorable hazy dreamlike music – with a tendency to veer towards the darker dreams, the ones that really stay in the mind.Finding that touring with a big band was no longer practical Paul Megna has focused his resources down.  The result is ‘How Aeroplanes Fly‘, which was released last Friday.  The lead single, ‘Twenty One‘, is distinctively eerie and draws from a, literally, life changing event being a first-hand account of the chilly May morning Paul nearly drowned in Lake Winnipesaukee, but was rescued after treading water for thirty minutes and contracting hypothermia.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
