Jimmy Webb “Dorothy Chandler Blues” – Listen

A little bonus Track to end the week with.  Jimmy Webb is probably best known for his collaboration with Glen Campbell, and songs like ‘Galvaston‘ and ‘Wichita Linesman‘.  Naturally he also had a solo singer-songwriter career, which produced to some minds his finest music – let’s think ‘P.F. Sloan‘ or songs of the sour side of the music business – ‘Catharsis‘ and ‘Songseller‘ come to mind.  And, most of all, this classic song that could almost be our anthem.

Jimmy Webb will be 74 tomorrow, Happy Birthday Jimmy.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
