There’s a beautiful, understated vocal performance on the latest video release from Suzanne Vega. Here, she covers the late Lou Reed’s ‘Walk on the Wild Side’, which is taken from her brand new album, ‘An Evening of New York Songs and Stories’. The album features familiar favourites, more obscure selections and covers and was recorded live at New York’s Café Carlyle, creating an intimate sound for an intimate venue.
To celebrate the release of the new album, Vega will be performing two global livestream concerts from the Blue Note Jazz Club in Greenwich Village, New York. The shows will go out on 7th October at 9:00pm US Eastern Daylight Time for fans in the US and the second performance will go live on October 8 at 8:00pm UK time for fans in the UK and Europe. In support of the independent music industry during these challenging times, Vega has partnered up with various independent venues, promoters and festivals, such as the Cambridge Folk Festival. All partners will receive a share of the money made from the livestream gigs. Tickets can be purchased here.
