Kelley McFarling’s new album ‘Deep the Habit‘ is a big step-away from her 2017 release ‘Water Dog‘. Where ‘Water Dog‘ was sparse and intimate, ‘Deep the Habit‘ uses the broader palette of a full band with Kelley McFarling front and centre as bandleader. The Atlanta born, San Francisco Bay dwelling Kelley McFarling plays with a range of styles as well – folky to folk rock to alt-country. Another track from the album, ‘Birds‘, recalls mid-eighties Joni Mitchell. There’s a lot going on here, which we’ll doubtless revisit in good time.
