Austin City Limits has announced the 2021 inductees into its Austin City Limits Hall of Fame which include Americana icons Wilco, Lucinda Williams, and Texas singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo. There were no 2020 inductees because of the pandemic but a ceremony this year with still-unannounced live performances will take place on October 28th from the city.
Both Williams and Wilco have each appeared four times on the long-running live-music series, ACL, while Escovedo has appeared five times. Williams made their debut appearance on the show in 1990; Wilco in 2000; and Escovedo in 1983 with his band Rank and File.
The honour follows the news earlier this year that Williams is recovering from a stroke she suffered in November 2020. She’s thankfully expected to make a full recovery and recently played at a tribute concert to ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons in Nashville. She is hitting the road for a US tour with Jason Isbell this summer.
