Welcome to our new season of The Twang Factor. We’ve got an amazing array of talent to bring you over the coming weeks starting off this week with Ian David Green, a songwriter from Liverpool, now residing in London.
Ian released his debut album ‘Songs of the Sea’, hailed by folking.com as “a truly magnificent work”, in February 2021 and is currently working on his follow-up album ‘Songs from the Wheel’, which he hopes to release in early 2022.
‘Antony & Cleopatra Head for the Highlands’, the song which Ian has chosen to perform for the Twang Factor, is taken from that new album. Ian describes it as “a Scottish love song, born of spending occasional nights in Glasgow and singing at a bar called Nice and Sleazy on Sauchiehall Street before lockdown kicked in”.
You can see and listen to more from Ian on his Facebook music page, Bandcamp and website
Like to enter The Twang Factor yourself? or know someone else that might? Here’s how to get involved:
Send us a link to you performing an original song. Our email address is thetwangfactor@americana-uk.com We will then view it and if you stand out from the crowd, we will be in touch. Chosen artists will then be invited to make an exclusive recording, like the one above, for AUK which will appear on the site in one of our weekly slots.
A few things to note:
- This is aimed at new and/or relatively unknown artists.
- Despite the name, the feature is open to artists working in the broad americana/folk range – you know the kind of stuff we dig.
- Your material must be original – no covers please.
Good luck. We look forward to hearing from you – and tell your friends!
