John Prine’s Grammy-winning album ‘Fair & Square’ which was originally released back in 2005 is getting a deluxe reissue treatment this autumn. The double album edition will land on October 1st via the late songwriter’s own label Oh Boy Records, and be available in an array of colours including standard black, opaque green, and green and orange. The album will be pressed at Third Man Records’ pressing plant in Detroit.
‘Fair & Square’ won the Best Contemporary Folk Album trophy at the Grammies in 2005, also achieving the fastest rise to No. 1 in the history of Americana radio. In addition to the reissue, the Prine Family have announced a series of concerts in Nashville called “You Got Gold: Celebrating the Life & Songs of John Prine,” which will take place in the 8 days leading up to what would have been Prine’s birthday on October 10th. Each show will include a surprise line-up of artists, with proceeds going towards The Hello in There Foundation.
Finally on October 8th, Oh Boy Records will release a new tribute album ‘Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine, Vol. 2’. Ahead of its release each month the label is posting a new artist and song online, the first two having been revealed already as Sturgill Simpson and Brandi Carlile.
