Amy Grant “The 6th Of January (Yasgur’s Farm)” – searching for a united, optimistic, progressive nation

This single is the first new music from Amy Grant, a Six-time GRAMMY Winner and recent Kennedy Center Honoree, in a decade.  It’s a song that reflects on the progressive optimism of the 1960s and wonders how it stands up to day.  Are we all the same – made from Stardust, and is it this positivity because of the time of the year, or maybe the time of man?   Or have we reached a future where “that crowd left here years ago, scattered all to hell and Harper’s Ferry / On the 6th of January.

Amy Grant herself says this about the song  – “We operate in the world around us and sometimes neglect the power of what we have in our choices and how those choices affect the world around us. Maybe life and problem solving is more of ‘we’ than ‘me’. If we can choose to look through a lens other than our own, maybe there is hope to come together and find a way forward through the unrest.”

Amy Grant will be in Belfast on Tuesday 13th January to headline Ireland’s Folk In Fusion Festival.  The event forms part of a wider celebration of the cultural links between Belfast and Nashville, which are sister cities.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
