Andy Lowe “On The Lonesome Wind” – like the wind my soul will never die

On the Lonesome Wind‘ is a new single on Mountain Fever Records by Andy Lowe, released on the back of his first-place win in the Bluegrass Banjo Competition at the Galax Old Time Fiddler’s Convention.  Andy has previously released three albums as part of the Deer Creek Boys, but with that band on hiatus he has now put together a solo album called ‘Nervous Energy‘, which is set to be released in early 2023.

This new song features Andy Lowe on banjo, Jacob Greer on lead and harmony vocals, Jeff Partin on bass and dobro, and two fellow label artists and Volume Five band members, Jacob Burleson on guitar, and Aaron Ramsey on mandolin.

On the Lonesome Wind‘ is a tale of a ramblin’ soul who’ll never settle down, and whose dearest wish is to remain that way eternally: “When I die won’t you do me just one favour / Let my ashes ride on the lonesome wind.”  It’s classic Bluegrass played with some panache and drive.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
