Euston Hall near Thetford is the gorgeous location for the annual Red Rooster festival and it’s usually a doozy. Next year’s early indications would suggest that for 29th to the 31st of May 2025 it’s more of the same, as the first acts are confirmed. Three acts immediately catch the eye.
JD McPherson is back and plays his first UK shows in 7 years on the back of his new album “Nite Owls”. McPherson has a unique blend of rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly, R&B combined with touches of glam, new wave, post-punk, and surf rock and he arrives in Norfolk after recently touring with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
Samantha Fish earned a Grammy nomination with Jesse Dayton for “Death Wish Blues”, topped the Billboard Blues Charts, toured with Slash, opened for The Rolling Stones, and joined the Experience Hendrix tour. She currently performs nearly 200 shows a year and is hailed as “one of the most promising young blues performers” by The New York Times.
And Jerron Paxton made his UK debut two weeks ago playing “Later with Jools” on BBC 2 after the release of his debut album “Things Done Changed”. A multi-instrumentalist effortlessly switching between acoustic guitar, fiddle, harp and bones playing the early music of pre-war blues, ragtime, bluegrass, jazz and lots more. We at AUK Towers say Jerron is a must-see act.
Other acts confirmed are Thee Sinseers, The Altons, DeWolff, Jim Jones Allstars, Jenny Don’t & The Spurs, JP Harris, Twinnie, David Viner, Emily Zeck, Too Bad Jims and The Zipheads with many more to come. We’ll keep you informed!
Red Rooster has consistently sold out over the past six years but you can still grab a discounted ‘Still Snoozin’ Rooster’ ticket for just £129.50 + booking fee, which covers the weekend with three nights of camping and parking. And kids 12 and under go free, making it one of the best-value festivals in the UK and on top of all that your humble journo will be there as usual soaking up the sounds and probably the bar..but don’t let that put you off!
