Colebrook Road conjure Edgar Allen Poe with their new Bluegrass single “Alone Again”.
After a somber start the track leaps into overdrive with a driving banjo pushing the band forward. The song was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s lesser-known autobiographical poem “Alone”, written in 1829 but not published during his lifetime.
Songwriter Jesse Eisenbise reflects on the genesis of the track, “’Alone Again’ offers a creative and moving interpretation of Poe’s introspective piece. “I thought Poe’s poem would make a really interesting song,” says Eisenbise. “Especially when paired with a somber minor melody and a tempo that starts like a funeral march, then breaks into a fast-paced section. The tempo change helps capture how memories—especially difficult ones—can warp or speed up in our minds. It was also a fun way to honor one of America’s great literary voices while adding our own creative spin.”

He currently runs The Barber’s Basement Recording Studio in Highland Park and is a partner in The Atmos at Lemontree Studio.
