dASHDOWN “Cottonmouth Blues” – Fun times in Florida

dASHDOWN gets the ‘Cottonmouth Blues’ down in Florida.  Clever wordplay and laid-back vocals make this track a standout.  The song is a tribute to the Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen in Bradenton, FL.

The artist tells how the song came about, “Cottonmouth Blues” is about one of the best experiences of my life and this really groovy spot in Bradenton, Florida’s Village of The Arts, the Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen. Last summer I had the privilege of sitting in on guitar for a few months at the Cottonmouths long standing Sunday Jam with drummer James Varnado (Dickey Betts & Great Southern) and his band. Blues legend and Gulf Coast luminary Steve Arvey, also originally from Chicago, had given me the hot tip to check in there.. Reminiscing, the tune came to me in a flash and was written and recorded in one sitting, off the cuff. I now realize I lifted some of the mellody from The Replacements “Waitress in The Sky”. So be it. True story.”
