Greazy Alice “Circles” – it all comes round again

A wild guess might identify Greazy Alice as a blues-rock band, maybe with a truckin’ vibe about them.  Couldn’t be more wrong – Greazy Alice is the recording moniker of New Orleans songwriter Alex Pianovich, and the new song ‘Circles‘ is both the latest single release and the title of an upcoming new EP which will be released on 25th November on Loose records.

It’s a delicate ballad, driven off on piano before the band kicks in – it’s a yearning reflection on the passing of time which has a particular inspiration as Pianovich, fairly bluntly, explains: “Wrote this one after a fella who was a regular at the bar I was part owner of died unexpectedly (at least as unexpectedly as any bar regular can die, it’s always kinda not surprising I guess). We made an altar in his honor at the end of the bar and people slowly added things to it until a few days later someone else died so they got rid of his crap and did it all over for somebody else.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
