Icarus Phoenix “Love” – all you need, really

Things that you should know – one time – Icarus Phoenix is the front for prolific songwriter Drew Danburry.  The band has existed in many forms since 2020, and the current lineup is Drew Danburry (gtr/vox), Eli Sims (drums), Leena Rhodes (gtr/vox/synth), Brendan Russell (bass), Peyton Rodeffer (gtr/vox/etc) as well as Andrew Young (drums, percussion).

Things that you should know –  two times – ‘Love‘ is a song that Danburry wrote after a social outing, as he explains: “I wrote this song with my friends when we went bowling and to monster mini golf. I took snippets from the conversation and wrote them down verbatim into the song you’re listening to now.  If you didn’t read this explanation I imagine you might think it’s about something else.  Something sordid. Something filthy.  Well it can be about that too if you want. I won’t stop you. No judgment here.

Now you know all you need to know and have permission to interpret anyway you choose – so it must be time to hit that play button. Take it away…

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
