Eclectic artist Judy Blank has announced the release of her third album and her debut for Rounder Records, “Big Mood”, on 22nd August 2025. Blank has also announced a series of tour dates in Europe and the UK in late Spring 2025. This follows last year’s shows supporting Katie Pruitt.
The latest album follows 2018’s “Morning Sun”, although the seven-year gap was bridged with a couple of EPs. Blank, who was born and raised in the Netherlands, now calls Nashville home, and her sound is noticeably indebted to influences from both sides of the Atlantic.
Earlier this year, Blank played SXSW in Austin and Paste magazine had this to say of ‘Pony’, an early single and the fourth track on “Big Mood”: “ ‘Pony’ is giving Julia Jacklin but with a dose of the Chicks. It’s not only fabulously Judy Blank, but it’s one of this year’s catchiest rock tracks yet. You’d be crazy not to crave a thousand more songs exactly like it.”
“Big Mood” was produced and recorded by Blank’s long-time collaborator Roy van Rosendaal at Studio Ruisendaal in the woods just outside Utrecht, Netherlands. Her music lands somewhere in the realm of ‘60s girl group meets indie/garage rock without losing the intimacy of a singer-songwriter. Her songs deal with love, longing, and the quiet battles people tend not to talk about. She’s prepared to address mental health, climate change, and social injustice, always standing up for the underdogs.

The latest single, ‘Killing Time’, is the album’s opener and sees Blank taking a swing at beauty standards, with a tune that demands to be danced to. “I wrote ‘Killing Time’ about the absurdity of chasing perfection when time doesn’t wait for any of us,” Blank says. “I mentally transported myself back to my high school days, when that body self-awareness crept in for the first time during a random PE class at the local swimming pool on a hot summer day.
