And UK tour dates too!
Renowned folk singer-songwriter Kate Rusby is set to release her highly anticipated new album, “When They All Looked Up”, on April 25th via Pure Records. This marks her first collection of brand-new material – outside of her Christmas albums – in six years. Featuring a mix of original compositions and reimagined traditional songs, the album showcases Kate’s signature warmth, storytelling, and unmistakable voice, which remains as beautiful as ever, over 30 years into her music career. The album ticks all boxes, from intimate acoustic arrangements to rich, immersive soundscapes that envelop the listener, all combined with some excellent production.
Leading the album is the poignant first single ‘Let Your Light Shine’, which you can listen to below A heartfelt message to her teenage daughters – and to anyone in need of encouragement – the song should bring a smile to all who hear it. The track’s lyrics and melody are elevated further by Kate’s stellar band and the addition of the award-winning Barnsley Youth Choir’s Senior Choir. “This song is my advice to my daughters, but also to anyone who might need to hear it,” says Rusby. “It’s about embracing who you are, having faith in your unique gifts, and letting the world see your light. Be strong, be positive, and be kind.”
One of the most cherished voices in contemporary folk music, “When They All Looked Up” explores human stories, themes of resilience, self-discovery, and connection, further cementing the ‘Barnsley Nightingale‘’s reputation as one of folk music’s most profound and relatable storytellers. It sounds like it will be intimate, evocative, and uplifting, showcasing her artistry, full of warmth and emotional depth. Fans can also pre-order the album through Kate’s official website, with exclusive signed copies available for both CD and vinyl.
