Lady Nade, we dare to suggest, has the breakout possibilities of an Allison Russell – a great stage presence, a fine songwriter and with a wonderful voice. She has already made herself noticed in both folk and Americana – and the non-acoustic version of ‘One Of Us‘ takes a tilt towards a more mainstream pop sound. It’s a song that encompasses both wider generational traumas, but frames that within the personal. Drawing on her own story – the loss of her grandmother at ten, an absent father and the silence that followed – Lady Nade charts a path from self-doubt and shame to agency and self-compassion. The middle-eight triumphantly lands the release: “When that chain is finally broken, and at least you’re free; when your words are finally spoken, you’ll find out who we can be.”
‘One Of Us‘ is released tomorrow, and is the second teaser song for Lady Nade’s new album “Identity” which will be released next October. We know, we agree, it’s a long wait – but it’ll be all the more wonderful when it does arrive.
‘One Of Us‘ was written and performed by Lady Nade, was produced by Archie Sylvester and was recorded
at Arch Top Records.
