Three years from her superb Time Ain’t Accidental, LA-based singer-songwriter Jess Williamson finds herself on a new label in a new studio with a new producer. Williamson has recently signed with New West Records and will release her latest record,  A Mile South of Heaven, on 9th October 2026.

When he she played her last London show in August 2024 at St Martin in the Fields , Williamson showcased a couple of new songs which leant to the country side of her sound.   The new album, which was produced by Shooter Jennings and recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound Studio 3 in Los Angeles, finds Williamson continuing down that path, with pedal steel, fiddle, and banjo prominent throughout a collection of deeply personal songs. It’s a record said to be “about finding peace in the in-between moments and learning that fulfillment isn’t found at the finish line, but along the way”.

You can pre-order  A Mile South of Heaven with variants including a signed, limited edition LP and CD via Williamson’s merch page or New West’s store.

She has released the first single, Goodbye To All That, a song inspired by Joan Didion’s essay of the same name. Written during a period of reflection on her life between Los Angeles and Marfa, Texas, the tune captures the uncertainty, growth, and possibility that come with deciding whether it’s time to move on—or stay a little longer.  It is accompanied by a road trip music video shot on film in West Texas, New Mexico, and Malibu.
