Ruth Moody has announced the release of her latest solo album ‘Wanderer’, on 17th May 2024 via Blue Muse Records. Originally from Winnipeg, Moody now splits her time between Nashville and Vancouver Island. The award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is a well-respected solo artist and a founding and current member of The Wailin’ Jennys.
‘Wanderer’ is a chronicle of her life’s journey over the last decade, exploring the emotional journey of motherhood, the joy and pain of life, the mysterious and complicated dance of love, and ultimately, the longing we all feel for home, wherever that might be.
The album was recorded at Sound Emporium in Nashville, album was co-produced by Moody with Dan Knobler (Allison Russell, Lake Street Dive) and mixed by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, First Aid Kit, The Decemberists). It is made up of 10 self-penned powerful and personal songs reflecting the artists’s inner world and wanderings.
Moody brought together her favourite musicians and challenged herself to be as present and honest in her performance as possible. The sounds combine open-tuned guitars inspired by Moody’s heroes, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling, soaring pedal steel, intricate harmonies and the rich echo-chamber reverb of the legendary Nashville studio.
Early single and video release ‘Seventeen’, is a true-life story of unrequited love and an homage to Moody’s hometown of Winnipeg.
