Paul Ruane “Sally Gardens / The Foxhunters” – Listen

Something a bit different for our midweek word free tune session – Paul Ruane was an accomplished traditional folk fiddle player, who was recorded in 2012 with the accompaniment of his wife Dee Ruane on button Accordion and whistle.  The intention was just to snapshot their playing at the time, but with his passing in 2016 friends and family have worked to fill out the sound and prepare the recordings for issue.  The album ‘Sound‘ was released towards the end of last year and can be purchased here.

This fine pair of tunes also features Louis Bingham on cittern and Bodhran.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
