One of our favourite americana festivals Glasgow Americana returns next month from 4th-8th October 2023 The line up consists of 9 shows over 5 different spaces throughout Glasgow and brings together talent performers from Scotland, England, Ireland, USA and Canada.

The opening night features Robert Vincent with special guest Roseanne Reid.  This is the curtain raiser for the festival and takes place in Websters theatre in the West End of the city. There is a choice of shows on Thursday the 5th October.  In the southside of Glasgow you can see Jesse Terry from America who plays The Rum Shack.  Jesse is supported by Scotland’s own Colin Clyne. On the same evening in the city centre, The CCA plays host to The Seven Song Club.  This showcases 3 artists who all have the opportunity to deliver 7 songs. This year they have The Hellfire Club, Anton O’Donnell (Anton and the Colts) and The Fine Draw.

Heading into the weekend, on Friday 6th October, in the city centre, Room 2 hosts Bennett and Wilson who are supported by Dropkick. Over in the southside on the same evening Kim Edgar plays The Glad Café with Emma Jane opening up the show. Saturday 7th October gives us the opportunity to present an afternoon matinee show.  The CCA will host The Coaltown Daisies who are supported by Rain of Animals. For the evening show they stay in the CCA for Canadian Lynn Hanson, who is supported by local singer song writer John Morgan.

For the final day of the festival there are another 2 great gigs both in The Glad Cafe.  The matinee show is Anthony Toner who is building a strong Scottish support following previous festival appearances.  Anthony is supported by Katie Whittaker from Perth-based band The Red Pine Timber Company. The festival is finished off in some style by Rod Picott who plays the Glad Café on Sunday the 8the October and is supported by Nick Thurtwell.

Festival Director Kevin Morris said, “It has been such a challenging time for live music and it has been exciting putting together a festival with such a strong and diverse line-up. I am so proud that this festival has developed into a significant 5 days for many artists and gig goers – the positive feedback I receive and the enthusiasm we all share for Americana music is inspiring.  As always, I am grateful to Creative Scotland for their continued support in allowing the festival to go ahead”.
