Ryan Hicks “No Life For Me” – just not carpe diem-ing right now

Ryan Hicks is a Canadian singer-songwriter who cites as musical influences Ron Sexsmith, Father John Misty and David Bowie amongst others.  And it shows on new song ‘No Life For Me‘ which considers the downsides of forever failing to make a decision or a next move – procrastination does not achieve a fulfilled life.  The Saskatchewan singer can’t, in reality, to be said to embody that slothful ethos – he’s been performing for over 20 years as well as holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education.
As well as his own music – his fourth solo studio album ‘Experience’ is in preparation – Ryan Hicks has also achieved noteworthy success with choral singing (as part of the University of Regina Chamber Choir which won Chamber Choir of The World in Eistedfod, Wales in 1997) and as a member for fourteen years with the Regina Celtic Band, Squeeze of Scotch.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
